The Upper School Principal is charged with the comprehensive responsibility for all activities involving students and faculty in the Upper School.  The Upper School Principal reports directly to the Head of School. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Staff Development

·       Monitors and observes instruction to facilitate continuous growth in professional skills of Upper School faculty members (provide written and oral feedback to Head of School)

·       Supervises the development of individual professional growth plans of faculty members

·       Coordinates staff development activities

·       Schedules and conducts faculty meetings

·       Interviews and evaluates applicants for any vacancies on the Upper School faculty and make staff recommendations to the Head of School

Curriculum Development

·       Directs the continuous assessment, revision and development of the Upper School curriculum

·       Coordinates the review and selection of materials and textbooks

·       Coordinates the alignment of curriculum with current best practices, standardized testing, and consumer needs

Student Supervision

·       Monitor and supervise student behavior on campus and administer discipline when necessary

·       Works with faculty to establish and administer a plan to insure that student behavior at school and at all school functions is acceptable

·       Recommends to Head of School any new policies or policy changes that are needed to be presented to the Board of Trustees

·       Is responsible for the preparation of the Upper School Student Handbook with input from the Lower School Principal, Counselors, teachers and Head of School

·       Is responsible for the development of a master schedule for teachers and students with the help of the Counselors, Lower School Principal and Head of School

·       Monitors Upper School students records to insure accuracy and completeness

·       Develops and implements a plan to insure that parents are informed as to the progress or lack of progress of their student

Other Administrative Duties

·       Schedules all substitutes for the Upper School faculty and provides the bookkeeper with a list of all absences by teachers and their substitutes at the end of each month of payroll calculations

·       Establishes and monitors a duty roster for Upper School  faculty

·       Coordinates with the Head of School the set-up for Baccalaureate and Graduation

·       Serves on the School Improvement Committee and Administrative Team

·       Supports the Mission of Lee-Scott Academy

·       Any other appropriate duties requested by the Head of School

●      Providing basic computer skills to each K5 - Grade 6 class once a week in the Lower School computer lab or with iPads.

●      Serving as the network administrator for infrastructure support, including all hardware/software and connections (i.e. switches, routers, wireless, Ethernet, security cameras and DVR, bells, telephone system, interactive smart boards and audio/visual equipment), and providing support for the electronic student records system.

●      Supervising and coordinating outsourced support staff as needed in order to maintain systems.

Required Skills:

●      Experience supporting students and faculty

●      Outstanding communication skills and detail-oriented work habits

●      Bachelor’s Degree required; prior classroom teaching experience desired

Job duties:
