POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

SCHEDULE

All instructional faculty will work on a 9 month contract. Regular hours are 7:30 to 3:30, but will   often require additional time commitments for meetings, events, and extra curricular  activities.

Overview

In consultation with colleagues in the middle school, upper school and specific department and other members of the Arts team of teachers, the Band Director is responsible for teaching a full load of classes.

Reports To: Upper School Head/Head of School Classification: Exempt

Key Areas of Responsibility

-  Successfully plan, organize and teach band classes (5th Beginning Band, 6th Intermediate Band, 7th Intermediate Band, 8-12 Advanced Band)

-  Lead summer band rehearsals in preparation for marching band/football performances

-  Successfully conduct summer band camp

-  Prepare marching field for practice

-  Attend all football games and successfully direct the band (transportation, food, performance, etc.)

-  Plan, organize and prepare for annual Holiday Concert and Spring Concert performed each year

-  Plan, organize and prepare for church performances

-  Prepare for pep rallies

-  Demonstrates an attitude of flexibility with regard to curriculum decisions in order to meet the instructional needs

-  Instructs and encourages individual students; establishes goals for individualized students and small groups

-  Manages the class and ensures engagement and discipline

-  Communicates with parents or other interested parties

-  Collaborates with colleagues and seeks feedback in the spirit of continuous improvement

-  Reflects on instructional practices to meet individual professional development goals

-  Assumes personal responsibility for student achievement

-  Actively participates in professional development, grade level, and department meetings

-  Bachelor’s degree in appropriate field from accredited university required; Masters or other advanced degree preferred.

Position Description

As a member of the college counseling and placement team, the College Counselor works closely with the Director of College Counseling Services to educate, guide, and support students and their families through the college search and placement process.

Reports To: Director of College Counseling

Responsibilities

•                  Educates upper school students, individually and in groups, about college preparation, search, and admissions processes.

•                  Schedules and conducts counseling sessions with individual families as appropriate  to ensure  understanding  and partnership in college search and placement process; communicates regularly and proactively with families throughout the college placement process

•                  Participates in orientation programs for rising 9th, 10th and 11th grade students to share college preparation strategies and actions for their particular grade level

•                  In support of Director of College Guidance, assists coordinating college programs including local, private school College Fair and Awards Day

•                  Schedules, meets with, hosts, and facilitates meetings between college admissions representatives and interested St. Paul’s students

•                  Coordinates college campus tours, both locally and regionally

•                  Ensures each senior applies to an appropriate range of  colleges

•                  Assists students with application essays and conducts an essay writing workshop for seniors

•                  Writes an official school recommendation for each senior

•                  Maintains individual student files, documenting college application progress through the junior and senior years

•                  Tracks each student’s interest and application status through both Naviance software and individual student files

•                  Compiles an annual Profile of the School, as well as information on mid-year grade distribution in senior courses

•                  Works with the school’s Registrar and other counselors to maintain senior student records, including GPAs and transcripts

•                  Maintains and disseminates information about standardized tests such as the SAT, ACT, PSAT, and PreACT; counsels students and parents regarding standardized testing and reporting scores to colleges

•                  Through the Naviance program, tracks college admissions decisions and statistics and prepares annual reports

•                  Maintains a working knowledge of NCAA Clearinghouse regulations and coordinates with the Athletic department with regard to student-athletes

•                  Attends professional conferences, workshops and college campus visitation programs as requested

•                  Prepares reports of college applications, scholarships, test scores and student information for various entities of the school, including Board of Trustees, Admissions, Alumni and Development

•                  Participates in required Professional Development programs

•                  Other tasks as requested

Position Requirements

•         The ideal candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree or higher

•         The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years’ experience in college counseling or selective college  admissions.

•         Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills

•         Strong multitasking, organization, and time management skills

•         Proficiency with Microsoft Office program suite: Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint

•         Proficiency with Naviance college placement software system

Pike Liberal Arts School is currently taking applications for an Athletic Director and Head Football Coach. This position is to oversee all aspects of the athletic programs, including, but not limited to:

·         Managing and supervising athletic activities, contests, and practice sessions to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, discipline, respect, and good sportsmanship

·         Managing athletic budgets

·         Ensuring the school's compliance with athletic rules and regulations and monitoring and enforcing student eligibility criteria for extracurricular participation

·         Creating an environment that is conducive to whole-person development of our student-athletes

·         Collaborating with all coaching staff on game days throughout the sports season

·         Collaborating with all coaching staff on summer and in-season workout schedules for all sports

·         Using a variety of instructional techniques to meet the needs and improve the abilities of student athletes

·         Working with other members of school staff to plan and put in place instructional goals and objectives to ensure the overall educational development of student athletes

·         Taking all necessary precautions to protect student athletes, equipment, materials, and facilities

·         Developing and coordinating a continuing evaluation of the athletic programs and making changes based on findings and the ongoing needs of the program

·         Accompanying and supervising student athletes during athletic competitions in assigned sports

·         Instructing and advising students on NCAA regulations with regard to academic requirements for scholarships and recruiting practices

·         Maintaining, filing, and copying all pertinent materials, eligibility forms, transfer forms, grade reports, and ensuring that AISA guidelines are followed

·         Applying and enforcing student discipline during athletic contests, practice sessions, and while on trips off school property in accordance with Student Code of Conduct

·         Encouraging sportsmanlike conduct in all phases of athletic participation

·         Establishing and maintaining open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, Headmaster, and teachers

·         Maintaining a current inventory of all fixed assets within program

·         Overseeing the process of cleaning, repairing, and storing all campus athletic equipment
