The Lakeside School seeks a dynamic and visionary Head of School to lead the institution forward while honoring its longstanding commitment to academic excellence within a safe and nurturing environment. The Head of School serves as the chief instructional, disciplinary, and administrative leader and is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the school.
Key responsibilities include hiring, supervising, and evaluating faculty and staff; overseeing curriculum development and instructional excellence; ensuring compliance with accreditation standards; and maintaining adherence to all school policies and federal, state, and local regulations. The Head of School works in close partnership with the Board of Trustees to develop and update school policies, provides regular reports at monthly Board meetings, and prepares an annual report for The Lakeside Board of Trustees.
In addition, the Head of School is responsible for maintaining the school’s financial health through sound budgeting practices, tuition management, and non-tuition revenue generation. As the chief ambassador of the school, the Head of School promotes Lakeside throughout the local community, the state, and the region. Exceptional communication skills are essential, as this role requires fostering positive relationships among students, parents, faculty, staff, alumni, and trustees.
Founded in 1968, The Lakeside School has provided a high-quality, college-preparatory education to students in South Alabama for over five decades. Lakeside is a coeducational independent school serving approximately 330 students in grades Pre-Kindergarten through twelve and is governed by a 12-member, self-perpetuating Board of Trustees. The school is accredited by AdvancEd and is a member of the Alabama Independent School Association. While non-denominational, Lakeside places a strong emphasis on moral values and character development.
The Lakeside School is located in historic Eufaula, Alabama, just minutes from the scenic shoreline of Lake Eufaula. The area is known for its rich history, strong sense of community, and reputation as a sportsman’s paradise, and it is conveniently located within a two-hour drive of the Gulf Coast beaches. Eufaula is approximately 90 miles southeast of Montgomery, Alabama, and 40 miles southwest of Columbus, Georgia.
The successful candidate will preferably hold a master’s degree or higher in educational administration or a related field and have 5–10 years of experience as a teacher and/or school administrator. Prior leadership experience in an independent school setting is strongly preferred. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
