MIDDLE SCHOOL MATHEMATICS TEACHER
JOB DESCRIPTION
Houston Academy is a premier independent, college preparatory school located in Dothan, AL. Houston Academy is searching for a Middle School Mathematics Teacher to join our team on August 1, 2025. This position includes teaching multiple sections of both Grade 5 and Grade 6 Math classes and serve as a fifth grade Advisor.
REQUIREMENTS
The ideal applicant will possess the following:
- A bachelor’s degree, preferably in Mathematics or Mathematics education or significant, and measurable mastery of the subject area;
- Experience teaching and/or a willingness to teach fifth and sixth grade Mathematics courses;
- Strong leadership skills and a commitment to students and their learning;
- The personality traits of enthusiasm, creativity, imagination, and a strong desire/ability to collaborate across content areas;
- An inspiring, innovative, and charismatic teaching style; and
- A willingness to be involved in school and community life.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan, evaluate, and revise curricula, course content, course materials, and methods of instruction;
- Keep abreast of developments in the field by reading current literature, talking with colleagues, and participating in professional conferences;
- Select and obtain materials and supplies such as textbooks and electronic media;
- Communicate regularly with parents, teachers, and school leadership regarding student progress; and
- Participate in campus and community events.
INFORMATION
Salary will be commensurate with degree level and teaching experience.
