Sparta Academy is seeking a Headmaster to manage the overall academic program for the 2024-2025 school year. The Headmaster serves as the educational leader, responsible for managing the policies, regulations, and procedures related to student growth and achievement. This includes providing administrative services, monitoring the educational program, and accreditation leadership. The Headmaster ensures that the academic program and culture of school appropriately reflects the school mission and best practices in education. General Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree; Master’s Degree preferred
- Teaching experience required; 3 to 5 years administrative leadership preferred
Essential Job Functions:
- Provide leadership and oversight of all matters relating to curriculum and accreditation of Sparta Academy
- Provide leadership and organization of technology advancement
- Discipline and counsel elementary and high school students
- Coordinate periodic academic program review and work with the faculty in the review, study and development or curriculum and in the improvement of instruction
- Responsible for recruiting and interviewing teachers/staff and recommending the hiring and discharge of teachers and other staff to the Board of Directors
- Hold regular staff meetings
- Conduct annual performance reviews for all faculty and staff
- Attend Board meetings as requested to present the Headmaster Report
- Will direct the development of the annual fund-raising efforts
- Oversee the ordering of textbooks, testing materials and interpretation of testing results
- Oversee monthly chapel services
- Assist the Finance Committee in creating the school budget annually
- Assist in setting teachers’ salaries
- Assist in the development of school policies and procedures
- Supervise all teachers and staff.
- Evaluate faculty and staff
- Provide guidance to all faculty and staff
- Coordinating professional development strategies for teachers with specific regard to increasing academic qualifications and improving teaching skills
- Communicate with teachers and parents to identify and resolve student academic or behavioral concerns
- Provide support to the athletic director and athletic programKeep the Board of Directors informed about concerns related to the academic program
Nature of Position
Reports directly to the board of directors and is ultimately responsible for the operation of all school programs; the management of all school fiscal resources, the supervision of all staff, and the provision of quality services to the community.
