Middle/Upper School English Instructor

Job Description: 

The Donoho School is seeking a passionate and dedicated Middle/Upper School English Teacher. The English Teacher will be responsible for designing and delivering high-quality instruction in grammar, writing, literature, critical analysis and/or elective offerings. Opportunities to teach Advance Placement courses and to serve as the English Department Head may also be available to qualified candidates. The ideal candidate should possess strong content knowledge, instructional skills, leadership skills, and a commitment to meeting the needs of the Donoho family.

English Teacher Responsibilities: 

  • Designing, developing, and delivering quality, rigorous English lessons that align with school curricular standards.
  • Assess student learning and progress through various formative and summative assessments, providing timely and constructive feedback to students and parents
  • Establish and maintain a positive learning environment that fosters respect, collaboration, and active participation, while managing classroom behavior and promoting a culture of academic excellence.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, including other teachers and administration, to share best practices, align curriculum, and support student learning.
  • Utilize technology to maintain accurate grade reporting, innovative learning experiences, and promote responsible digital citizenship
  • Perform other duties essential to contributing to the school community such as attending various school activities, maintaining open lines of parental communication, sponsoring clubs/student groups, and fulfilling other duties as assigned by the Director/Head of School

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, or related field; Master’s degree preferred
  • Previous experience teaching science at the middle/secondary level or collegiate level instruction highly desired
  • Strong knowledge of science content and pedagogy, including best science practices and curriculum development and desire to continue life-long learning
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students in scientific learning
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs and demands of the school community
