Position Overview

The Donoho School seeks a dynamic, mission-driven educator to serve as Director of Middle & Upper School (Grades 6–12). Reporting to the Head of School, this leader will oversee the academic, cultural, and co-curricular life of the Middle and Upper divisions, partnering with faculty, students, and families to ensure an engaging and supportive learning environment.

The Director will champion Donoho’s commitment to excellence, innovation, and whole-child education—advancing curriculum design, faculty growth, and student life initiatives that reflect the school’s values of honor, humility, wisdom, and passion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead academic vision, curriculum development, and instructional excellence in Grades 6–12
  • Recruit, mentor, and evaluate faculty, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous growth
  • Promote student success through proactive support, advising, and college counseling
  • Strengthen student life, service, and leadership programs
  • Partner with the Head of School and leadership team on strategic planning and divisional goals
  • Oversee operations including budget, scheduling, and divisional programs such as Intersession and job shadowing
  • Serve as a visible presence in the daily life of the school community

Ideal Candidate Profile

We seek a collaborative, visionary leader who:

  • Holds an advanced degree in education or a related field
  • Brings 7–10 years of leadership experience in middle or secondary education, ideally in an independent school setting
  • Demonstrates success in curriculum innovation, faculty development, and student-centered leadership
  • Understands adolescent development and values both academic rigor and emotional growth
  • Communicates with clarity, empathy, and integrity across stakeholder groups
  • Embodies Donoho’s mission and thrives in a close-knit, high-expectation community
